Services / Website speed

✦ Website speed · Bakersfield, CA ✦

Website speed optimization in Bakersfield and nationwide.

A slow site loses visitors before they see what you offer. I find what's slowing yours down, fix it and show you the before and after, for businesses here in Bakersfield and anywhere in the US. It's all done online, so location never matters. A one-time speed tune-up starts at $1,500.

✦ Why it matters ✦

A faster site gets more calls.

Speed is one of the most important parts of your website, and one of the easiest to overlook. Most people find you on their phone, often on a slow connection. Every second they wait is a chance to tap back and call someone else.

53%

Visitors don't wait

of phone visitors leave a page that takes longer than 3 seconds to load, according to Google (opens in a new tab). They leave before they read a word. A faster site keeps them around long enough to call or book.

8%

Faster sells more

more orders for stores whose phone pages loaded just 0.1 seconds faster, in a study by Google and Deloitte (opens in a new tab). Google also uses speed when ranking sites (called Core Web Vitals (opens in a new tab)).

62%

Phones feel it most

of website visits now happen on phones (StatCounter (opens in a new tab), 2025). A site can feel fine on your office computer and still crawl on a phone, so I test and tune for both.

✦ What you get ✦

The speed tune-up

One price for your whole site, not per page. Most of what slows a site down affects every page, so fixing it once speeds up all of them. And it's more than a plugin. I often set one up as part of the work, but a plugin alone only goes so far. I also find the real causes in your images, code and setup and fix them, so the speed lasts.

Speed tune-up

From $1,500

Most tune-ups are $1,500-$3,000, depending on the size of your site and what's slowing it down. Online stores and very large sites fall outside this range. They have more to test (products, cart and checkout), so I quote them separately after a quick look. Either way, you get a written quote before I start.

  • A speed test of your key pages on phone and desktop
  • Images resized, compressed and switched to modern formats
  • Caching and compression set up where your platform allows
  • Extra plugins, apps and scripts removed or set to load later
  • Fonts and code trimmed so the top of each page shows up first
  • Layout shifts fixed so buttons don't jump while the page loads
  • A before-and-after report, plus tips to keep it fast

✦ Your platform ✦

I can speed up any site. The more control I have, the faster it gets.

A higher score isn't about which platform is better. It's about how much of the site I'm allowed to change. Here's what I can reach on each one, so there are no surprises.

WordPress

Full control

My favorite to build on and to tune. Everything is customizable, so I can fine-tune caching, images, plugins, theme code and fonts. If your hosting is holding you back, I'll tell you and help you move. Includes WooCommerce stores.

Shopify

Lots of control

A strong, reliable store platform on its own fast servers. I tune what you add on top: apps, large images and theme code.

Webflow

Lots of control

Hosting is handled for you, and I tune the rest: images, fonts, animations and third-party scripts.

Squarespace & Wix

Limited control

These platforms lock their own code, so no one outside the company can change it. I fix what's in your control: images, videos, embeds, fonts and add-ons. Phone scores often land in the middle range, even after a tune-up.

✦ A question I get a lot ✦

"You built my site. Why isn't it fast already?"

Fair question. Every site I build is set up to load well, like a new house built to code. A tune-up is the energy audit: testing every room and sealing every leak, page by page, until it's at top speed.

FAST

Included in every build

  • Images sized and compressed
  • Only the code and add-ons the site needs
  • Checked on phones before launch

What a tune-up adds

  • Finding the slowdowns your theme or platform hides
  • Testing every key page, fixing and retesting
  • Catching up on photos, pages and tools added since launch
  • Keeping up as Google raises the bar for what counts as fast

Proof: my own site

I tuned my own site first.

My site runs on WordPress. These are its scores from Google PageSpeed Insights on November 7, 2026, after the same process I'll use on yours. Google tests phones like an everyday phone on a slower cell connection, so phone scores run lower than desktop on every site, mine included. A perfect 100 on phone is rare. Google counts 90-100 as good, and that's the range I aim for.

Try it yourself: Most people will find you on a phone, so open your own site on yours first, then on a computer. Does it show up in under 3 seconds on both?

✦ Questions ✦

Website speed questions

Can't I just install a speed plugin?

A plugin or app can help, and I often use one as part of the work. On its own, though, it can't fix everything, and the wrong settings can break things. I set it up properly for your site, then fix what it can't reach, like heavy images, extra scripts and theme code.

Isn't speed part of Website Care?

They work together, but they're different. A tune-up is the one-time deep fix that makes a slow site fast. Website Care ($95/month) keeps a site healthy after that, with monthly backups and behind-the-scenes security updates, so it stays fast. Many clients start with the tune-up, then add Care. Tune-ups work on any platform, and Care is for WordPress sites.

Is a perfect 100 score realistic?

Not every time, and no one can honestly guarantee it. Here's what the numbers mean:

  • 90-100 is good. It's Google's green range and the range I aim for.
  • Accessibility, Best practices and SEO are checklists, so most sites can reach 100 there.
  • Phone speed is the hard one. Google tests on an everyday phone with a slower connection, and the score moves a few points from test to test.
  • The last few points often mean removing things people want, like photos, fonts or video. I won't cut those just to reach 100.
  • Your platform matters too. Some platforms limit how high a phone score can go, because they control code I can't change. See how yours compares.

What I promise is a faster site on phone and desktop, plus a before-and-after report so you can see exactly what changed.

Why is my phone score lower than my desktop score?

That's normal for every website. Google tests phones like an everyday phone on a slower cellular connection, with less power than a computer, so the same page scores lower. I tune for phones first, since that's where most of your visitors find you.

Why isn't it priced per page?

Most fixes, like caching, fonts, scripts and add-ons, apply to the whole site at once. The price depends on how big the site is and how much is slowing it down, and you get a written quote first.

Will my site look different?

No. The work happens behind the scenes. If something visible is slowing you down, like a huge video on the homepage, I'll show you options before changing it.

Can you speed up a site someone else built?

Yes. Most of the sites I tune up were built by someone else. I'll just need login access for the site and, if it has one, the hosting account.

How do I keep it fast afterward?

Your report includes simple tips, like how to size photos before you upload them. For WordPress sites, Website Care ($95/month) backs up your site and keeps its behind-the-scenes software up to date each month. See Website Care →

Should I get an audit or a tune-up?

If speed is the main problem, go straight to a tune-up. If you're not sure what's holding your site back, an audit looks at SEO, content and design too, then tells you what to fix first. See website audits →
